Team Zambia 2018- Day 3

Team Zambia 2018- Day 3

OUR TEAM MEMBERS ARE SEEING A HARVEST OF SOULS!
In the last two days our team members and their interpreters have led 36 people to Christ in face-to-face witnessing encounters in the village. Thank you Lord for sending us into your harvest fields. Thank you to the hundreds of people who are on our team back home praying daily for spiritual victories.

VBS LESSON OF THE DAY!
In VBS today the kids learned about sin. They learned the definition of sin and also the consequences of sin- separation from God. Tomorrow they will hear how Jesus can forgive their sins and give them eternal life. Please pray as we build each day toward an opportunity for them to trust Christ.

PRAY FOR THE SALVATION OF THESE YOUNG MEN!
Today we let VBS out early so we would have time to sit with kids and talk to them about the Lord. Donnie had been focusing on a couple of young men who were the oldest at the VBS and seemed to be natural leaders. As he sat with them to talk,  several other pre-teen guys came over and joined them.  Donnie shared the gospel with them and asked them to think about it tonight and come back with any questions. Please pray for them that they will understand what it means to be saved and will be open to trusting Jesus as Savior.

A RARE SENIOR ADULT RECEIVES JESUS- Don MacDiarmid, Greg Davis and Pastor Luke (the pastor of the church we are planting), were walking along and saw a man in his seventies sitting on a bucket trying to soak up the sun since it’s been about 50 degrees each morning here. It was unusual to see an older person since the life expectancy of a male in Zambia is 46. As they got closer they realized that he was trying to read but could barely make out the words because people in the compound cannot afford reading glasses. He greeted them warmly and was so happy to hear a story from the Word of God. He knew about God but gladly received the good news of how he could have eternal life. Don led him to faith in Jesus and he was overjoyed.

VEINESS- A VICTIM OF A WORLD WITH INADEQUATE HEALTH CARE
While walking through the compound with her interpreter, Lydia met a lady named Veiness. Her face was disfigured and she had very poor vision. In talking with her they discovered that she had been the victim of a bus accident and improper treatment. Her eye and face were severely damaged and matters were made worse by an unsuccessful skin graft. She was very open to hearing about the hope that God could bring to her life and immediately prayed to receive Jesus. She is in need of a special pair of glasses and we are praying about how to help her.

WE EAT LIKE KINGS AT DINNER EACH EVENING!
In case some of you end up coming to Africa with us I want you to know that while we work hard we have amazing dinners each evening thanks to Chongo our marvelous cook. Tonight for example we had Stuffed meatballs, Pork Chops, Grilled Chicken, Spinach, fruit, ice cream and CATERPILLARS! That’s right. Along with all the other delicious dishes Chongo decided to help us experience the local cuisine. Most of us tasted them- a few of us actually swallowed them. And to quote an old African proverb (from The Lion King Movie) it was “slimy yet satisfying!”

QUOTABLE QUOTES:

“we were walking through the village sharing Jesus and stopped to share with a group of ladies. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a lady across the street who was looking intently at our team. She suddenly stopped washing her clothes and came to get near enough to hear the story we shared. After talking with her we realized that she had already received Jesus as Savior but had been told that she had to only pray verses from the bible and she had been discouraged because she could not read and therefore could not learn the verses to pray. She was so relieved to hear that she could talk to God just like she was speaking the them. The interpreter for our team is coming to help start the church and committed to her to teach her to read! What a divine appointment.” Kay Flores

“the very first person we met just a few blocks from the bus prayed to receive Christ. And it was not like he was just doing something to humor us- he really was so intent on hearing the story of Creation to Christ. His prayer was moving- it was so authentic.” Krista Tope
